Medical Herbalist.

At The Well Retreat, we believe that good healthcare begins with listening.

Medical herbal medicine combines traditional plant knowledge with modern clinical practice, using carefully selected medicinal plants to support health and wellbeing. Every consultation is tailored to the individual, recognising that no two people – or their health journeys – are the same.

Anthony takes time to understand your health as a whole. Rather than focusing on one symptom, your consultation explores your medical history, lifestyle, nutrition, sleep, stress and the wider picture of your wellbeing.

Following your consultation, Anthony may recommend a personalised herbal prescription together with practical lifestyle advice to support your health.

Whether you’re looking for support with a long-term health concern, recovering from illness or simply wanting a more natural approach alongside your existing healthcare, herbal medicine offers an individual and considered approach.

Meet Anthony

Anthony is a qualified Medical Herbalist with a passion for helping people reconnect with the therapeutic value of medicinal plants.

His aim is to create a calm, welcoming clinic where people feel heard and have the time to explore their health properly. Anthony believes that understanding the person is just as important as understanding their symptoms.

Alongside his clinic work, Anthony volunteers in a Herbal First Aid Clinic at festivals, where herbal preparations are used to support people in more immediate situations. He is also passionate about helping people build confidence in using simple herbal remedies safely at home and keeping alive the tradition of working with locally grown and responsibly sourced plants wherever possible.

What is Medical Herbal Medicine?

Herbal medicine has been used for thousands of years to support health and remains an important part of healthcare in many countries today.

Medical Herbalists are trained healthcare practitioners who combine traditional herbal knowledge with modern understanding of anatomy, physiology and pathology. Herbal medicines are prescribed according to each individual’s health, medical history and current medication, rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach.

Medicinal plants can be prepared in many different ways, including herbal tinctures, herbal teas, hydrosols, creams, balms and poultices to name a few. Every prescription is tailored specifically to you.

Who might benefit from seeing a Medical Herbalist?

Herbal medicine alongside conventional healthcare

Many people choose to see a Medical Herbalist alongside their GP or hospital specialist.

Anthony will always ask about any medication you are taking and any existing medical conditions before recommending herbal medicines, helping to ensure they are appropriate and used safely.

Where appropriate, he may also recommend that you seek further advice from your GP or another healthcare professional as part of your care.

Book your session with Anthony now.

One of the things many people value most is having the time to talk.

Initial consultations are longer than a typical GP appointment, allowing Anthony to understand the wider picture of your health. Rather than focusing on a single symptom, he looks at how different aspects of your health may be connected, helping to create a treatment plan that reflects your individual needs.
